The gospel is God’s good news of salvation that is found in one person only, The Lord Jesus Christ. To be saved is to be delivered from the penalty of sin which is eternal separation from God in a place called The Lake of Fire. This is what every person in this world deserves because of what they are, sinners. God’s Word teaches that all have sinned and since God is a Holy and righteous God He cannot let sin enter His presence in heaven. He hates sin but loves the sinner, this is shown at the top of every page "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." Since it has always been God’s desire to have fellowship with mankind He has provided a way back to Himself for every person on earth. God’s way of salvation is not through religion, good works, good intentions or pure ignorance but is centred wholly and solely in His Son, The Lord Jesus. Such was God’s love, mercy and grace to mankind that He sent His only begotten Son into this world to die on a cross. The Lord Jesus endured the agony and shame of crucifixion and shed His precious blood, forming the basis for us to be saved. In three awful hours when darkness covered the earth, God judged His only Son in the place of us sinners. If we acknowledge our sin and repent of it, place our faith in The Lord Jesus accepting that He died in our place, then, we can be saved. We can know God’s forgiveness and the assurance that one day we will go to be with a risen, glorified and living Saviour in Heaven. This Salvation will change a person’s life, desires, intentions and motives, in fact it will change everything. There is no greater joy than knowing the truth that one has placed their faith in a person who is The Son of God, to live for one who died in our place, to live in the certainty of Salvation compared to the passing, uncertain and vain things of this world. The gospel message places a responsibility on each of its hearers. We all have a decision to make, now. What will we do with God’s offer? What will you do with His Son? Are you saved?
